Dear friendliest friends,
Yes. The dreadful “S” happens to be stress. As common as it seems, it can take a serious toll on your body in many visible and bizarre ways.
1. Back pain
At times of stress, hormones that the body pumps out when stressed produces a fight-or-flight response causing tightening of the muscles.
Remedy: Do regular stretches because movement is the best remedy especially if your back muscles are infiltrated with knots. Book an appointment with your chiropractor to ensure a good healthy spine and as well as get rid of the nasty knots in the muscles.
2. Stomach aches
As many of you may not know, the brain’s nervous system is linked to the gut. Then again, gut issues could be from many other reasons.
Remedy: The best way to rectify stress-related stomach aches is…exercise. It would probably be the last thing you want to do but it can boost endorphins to make the mind and gut feel better.
3. Eyelid twitch
It occurs in one eye and only lasts a few minutes.
Remedy: Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Putting mild pressure on the twitching lid while breathing would help.
4. Rashes
Stress can bring about a mysterious rash. Stress lowers the immune system therefore rendering susceptibility to rash-causing skin infections.
Remedy: non-perfumed skin creams
5. Hair loss
Very high sex hormones androgen, which increases during stress can affect hair follicles leading to hair loss.
Remedy: A wig? No. I was just messing around. There are no dietary supplements proven to restore hair but eating a balanced diet can help cell growth and healing.
6. Acne
Breakouts. Women’s worst nightmare. Reasoning behind this is similar to hair loss.
Remedy: Resist from being a popper. This can lead to scarring. Consult a dermatologist if acne persists.
As they always say, when life gives you lemons, make a lemonade. Stress is inevitable especially living in our society today. There are always ways to make an unpleasant day, an enjoyable one somehow.
p.s: For all you brekkie skippers out there, did you know there is a 28% increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes if you skip brekkie?
I have a better suggestion.. When life gives u lemons, squeeze that shit and add tequila..
